The district's Independence Day celebration featured the national flag hoisting ceremony and official programmes commemorating India's Independence.

The Aavani Festival is one of the important annual celebrations at the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple, featuring religious ceremonies, processions and traditional temple rituals. The district administration held a preparatory meeting specifically for the 2026 Aavani festival

The annual Holy Cross Festival at Manapad is a major coastal pilgrimage event. The historic Holy Cross Church attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors during the festival period. The district tourism page identifies the festival period as 1–14 September.

The temple car procession is a major attraction of the Aavani festival, bringing devotees together for a traditional chariot procession through the streets of Tiruchendur.

The famous Mutharamman Dasara is celebrated on a grand scale at Kulasekarapattinam. Devotees participate in colourful costumes, processions, folk performances and religious rituals. The district administration describes it as an annual October festival.

The Soorasamharam is the grand concluding event of the Kulasai Dasara celebrations, featuring traditional religious rituals, elaborate costumes and large gatherings of devotees. The 2026 calendar lists the Soorasamharam for 20 October.
